Why Not is a major hub for volunteer opportunities. Depending on your skills, interests, and availability, any of the following two roles might be a great fit for you!
- Mentorship Team
- Our Mentorship Team is for anyone who wants to act like a big brother or sister to a group of young people who desperately need people to talk to or to just show consistency to them. Youth Mentors must commit to one shift per week from 5pm-9:15pm, have a valid police check with vulnerable sector screening, and be comfortable in a highly social role. This is a great opportunity for students looking for placement opportunities for their post-secondary study requirements, for young professionals seeking to gain experience working with high-risk populations, and for anyone looking to give back to their community.
- Program Support Team
- Our Program Support Team is the quiet force that helps to make sure the youth have everything they need, even if it’s not in a front line role. Activities for Program Support Volunteers can include meal preparation, organizing the food and clothing bank, and other hands-on tasks. This role does not require a rigid schedule, and is a great fit for anyone who just wants to help out. There are a wide variety of skills accepted. This role has engaged people with developmental delays to people with Master’s degrees.
